Gogol Bordello – is international band founded in 1999 by the Ukrainian emigrant Eugene Hütz, who moved with his family to the United States after the tragic events in Chornobyl. The group also includes emigrants from the central-eastern regions of Europe, in particular, Israel, Russia, Ecuador and Ethiopia. They managed to establish their own kind of music, known today as “gypsy-punk”
During the 20 years of the existence of Gogol Bordello released four studio albums and one EP. Each performance by Gogol Bordello is a full-fledged theatrical show featuring a mix of carnival, comedy, cabaret, balagan and farce. Their music combined motifs of Ukrainian and Gypsy music with Carpathian motifs. Each performance begins with the combined reefs of the violin and accordion backed up by the vocal ensemble, which makes the listener attend and participate in the action that is happening here and now.
